Geothermal source
The opportunities for using geothermal energy are diverse and often very limited.
In the context of the Czech Republic's heating industry, the first ever project utilizing geothermal energy as a source for central heat supply was put into operation in Děčín in 2002. The facility is operated by TERMO Děčín a.s., a member of the ENETIQA Group.
The town of Litoměřice is working on a project to utilize geothermal energy for the generation of heat and electricity. ENERGIE Holding a.s. as the owner of the source and the district-heating distribution system in the town has shown its preparedness to cooperate with the town on the construction of a new geothermal source by signing a memorandum of understanding with Litoměřice in December 2013.
